The wallpaper in the Bedchamber at Valentines is a reproduction of an 18th century design and reflects the fashion for objects from the East Indies and China.  My interest is in natural history and its depiction.
The wallpaper reflects ideas of collection, classification and display of creatures from, at the time, little known areas of the world.
I decided to free the birds from display thereby taking the inside of the mansion to the outside and vice versa. The birds and the silhouettes are cut from a roll of the reproduction wallpaper.
